Exclusive Vasari Corridor

This is a unique passageway over 1 km long which connects Palazzo Vecchio to Palazzo Pitti, passing across the Arno River above Ponte Vecchio. It was commissioned to Giorgio Vasari (the architect of the Uffizi) in 1565 by Cosimo I in order to celebrate the marriage of his son Francesco with Joanna of Austria, being completed in only six months.

This private corridor enabled the Medici Family to move freely between their private residence and the Government’s Headquarters without having a guardian. The Vasari Corridor contains a selection of 17th and 18th century paintings as well as the famous collection of artists' self portraits which belong to the Uffizi Gallery.

The Tour

At your hotel in downtown Florence you will meet a professional English speaking guide who will conduct you through Florence on the way to the Uffizi Gallery, providing a detailed explanation about city’s history and architecture.
